Ministry of Internal Affairs Responds to Reports of Blocked Residents in Disaster Zone Needing Food

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has responded to information circulating on social media regarding residents of a residential area of Hagpat Monastery and shanties near the Alaverdi city cemetery who are reportedly blocked and have not had food for two days.

In an interview with Armenpress, MIA spokesperson Narek Sargsyan emphasized that there have been no calls to the 911 service from the residents of the mentioned areas. Furthermore, food and essential supplies have been continuously delivered to local residents via a rope system.

"There is also an option for rescue workers to evacuate the residents from the specified areas, but no evacuation is occurring against their will. They wish to remain in their homes. We urge people not to publish unverified information and to refrain from unjustly criticizing the work of rescue workers," Sargsyan stated.
