Chaos Under the Factory Metro Bridge: Rescuers Free Trapped Citizens
On May 25, heavy rains in Yerevan once again flooded the streets, caused by the blockage of drainage pipes. According to photo journalist Gagik Shamshyan reporting from the scene, there was a true chaos under the bridge near the Factory Metro in the Tamantsineri street of the Shengavit administrative district, where a large number of vehicles were stuck in the water and unable to move.
The rescuers of the Yerevan firefighting squad from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia promptly reached out to help drivers and citizens, successfully extracting more than 10 vehicles from the area.
Police patrol officers of the 4th battalion of the Yerevan city patrol service, led by Battalion Commander Andranik Isakhanyan and Company Commander Armen Gasparyan, also arrived at the scene. They cordoned off the area to allow the firefighters and later, under the direction of the Shengavit administrative head Razmik Mkrtchyan, municipal department staff with 'Veolia Water' to begin work on unblocking the drainage pipes.
