Assessment Ordered for Potential Damage to Cultural Structures in Lori and Tavush Due to Flooding

During a working consultation held at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan issued directives regarding the inventory of potential damage caused by flooding to historical and cultural monuments, educational, cultural, and sports facilities in the Lori and Tavush regions.

The ministry reported that a specific instruction was given to the State Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations to carry out monitoring activities related to possible damage to cultural monuments and to present consolidated information.

In cooperation with the relevant departments of the staff in these regions, issues related to potential damage to educational, cultural, and sports infrastructure will be assessed, offering various solutions to address them.

After the complete collection of information, a program will be developed for the necessary restoration work based on urgency and priority. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the proper organization of final and unified exams, which are set to begin next week.

Considering the potential issues candidates may face in reaching examination centers under the current conditions, steps will be taken to organize the relevant work in cooperation with the Center for Assessment and Testing.

Since the educational process at primary and secondary vocational institutions has not yet concluded, it has been suggested to temporarily conduct classes remotely in areas affected by the flooding, depending on the situation.

Several other ongoing issues were also discussed during the consultation.
