New Details from the Ministry of Emergency Situations: Situation as of 17:00

As of 17:00, 30 teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are conducting rescue operations, involving 324 rescue workers. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

It is noted that an operational headquarters has been formed by the decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, chaired by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan. The headquarters includes Kamo Tsutsulyan, the Director of the Rescue Service and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

To familiarize himself with the situation, the Prime Minister has arrived in the city of Alaverdi.

The 911 hotline of the Rescue Service has been declared an Emergency Line. Citizens can call this hotline for necessary and urgent information.

By the decision of the Governor of Lori, the emergency response plan for the protection of the population in emergencies has been partially activated, specifically the plan established by Appendix 7 for the “Spring Floods, Floods, and Landslides in the Lori Region of Armenia.”

“According to the operational situation, search and rescue and urgent recovery efforts continue, through which 190 people have been evacuated from various settlements in the Lori and Tavush regions with the help of rescuers and other involved forces. Specifically, 223 people in the Lori region and 41 in the Tavush region have been rescued,” the report states.

Near the Sanahin bridge, rescuers retrieved the body of an unidentified citizen.

In the Tavush region, one residential building has collapsed, 44 houses, 2 hotels, and 18 social and other facilities have been flooded.

In the Tavush region, the Governor’s office has deployed 25 units of engineering equipment (20 dump trucks and 5 cranes) for the operations. Damage assessments in the Lori region are being clarified,” the statement concluded.
