Gas Pipeline Damaged in Dzoraget Gorge Affecting Stepanavan and Tashir Communities

Due to heavy rainfall, the gas pipeline supplying the left bank of Stepanavan community and the city of Tashir has been damaged in the Dzoraget Gorge of the Stepanavan region. This was reported by the Lori Regional Administration of the Republic of Armenia.

“Dear residents of Stepanavan and Tashir, due to heavy rainfall, the gas pipeline supplying the left bank of Stepanavan community and the city of Tashir has been damaged in the Dzoraget Gorge. Emergency recovery operations are underway,” the statement said.

It is noteworthy that overnight heavy rains in Alaverdi caused the Debed River to overflow, sweeping away everything in its path. Various sections of the M6 highway have been destroyed and are impassable as the river has eroded the road.

Currently, the Rescue Service is conducting search and rescue operations. There are 2 fatalities and 2 injuries,” the media reported.
