The U.S. Prepares Ukraine for Potential Nuclear Incidents
Washington is supplying Kyiv with equipment in case of potential incidents in the nuclear sector. This was reported by TASS, citing the remarks of Jill Hruby, head of the National Nuclear Security Administration under the U.S. Department of Energy, during a Congressional Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, as reported by Gazeta.ru.
According to Hruby, the U.S. administration is working on reducing nuclear risks in Ukraine, which includes "equipment transfer, preparation, and technical oversight to ensure the safe operation of nuclear power plants remaining under Ukraine's control." Hruby also added that Washington is working to enhance the protection of Ukraine's critical infrastructure, particularly with regard to electricity grids, as well as ensuring situational awareness concerning any emergencies that may arise in the country’s nuclear sector.
