Putin Allows Use of US Property in Russia to Compensate for Damages
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree regarding the compensation for damages caused to Russia and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation by unfriendly actions from the United States. The document has been published on the official portal of legal acts.
According to the decree, Russian courts will have the right to use American property in Russia to compensate for damages arising from the seizure of Russian assets. This includes American movable and immovable property located in the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as securities belonging to US companies and citizens, and shares in the authorized capital of Russian companies, along with other US property rights.
The document stipulates that the state commission for foreign investment control will be able to send a list of properties to the court, which can be used for compensation based on the principle of proportionality.
