City Hall Employees Prohibited from Driving on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Bishkek
The employees of the City Hall of Bishkek and other municipal organizations in Kyrgyzstan's capital have been banned from using personal vehicles on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This directive was signed by the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev.
Consequently, twice a week, they are required to use public transport, ensure compliance with sanitary standards in transport facilities, and oversee the quality of passenger service. City Hall representatives are permitted to use official vehicles only when necessary, according to 24.kg.
This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion as well as to strengthen control over buses and minibuses. Department heads are expected to report on the progress of the measures implemented.
The City Hall has confirmed this information, explaining the choice of Tuesdays and Thursdays, as these days experience the highest traffic intensity in Bishkek. Implementing restrictions on personal and official vehicle usage on these days is also expected to increase demand for public transport, promote the development of the transport system, and reduce the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
