China Responds to Britain's Accusations of Supplying Weapons to Russia

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the "groundless and irresponsible defamatory statements" made by British politicians against the country. This was stated by Wang Wenbin, the official spokesperson of the Chinese department, as reported by China News.

"It should be noted that it is not China, but Great Britain that is fueling the fire in the Ukrainian issue. There are reports that two years ago, Russia and Ukraine were close to reaching an agreement to cease hostilities. It is precisely due to the reaction of Great Britain and other parties that the conflict continues to this day," he emphasized.

Wenbin pointed out that "defaming China will not change Great Britain's passive stance on the Ukrainian issue nor resolve the acute problems existing within Great Britain itself." He concluded, "China has always stood for peace and dialogue and will continue to commit to promoting peace and negotiations while opposing the fueling of the fire."

On May 22, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps claimed, citing British and American intelligence, that "lethal aid" was allegedly "already being supplied or will be supplied from China to Russia, and from there to Ukraine" (quoted by Reuters). He did not provide further details.
