US Sanctions Against Iran Will Continue Under Current Regime: US State Department

US sanctions against Iran, which include restrictions on aircraft, will continue fully despite the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian due to a plane crash. This was stated by Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US State Department, during a press briefing on May 20.

He noted that the US side does not intend to apologize for the sanctions regime and pointed out that the Iranian government has allegedly used its aircraft to transport equipment to support terrorism.

“In this regard, we will continue to fully implement the sanctions regime, including sanctions against the aircraft used by the Iranian government,” Miller said.

Earlier, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin assured that the US had no involvement in the helicopter crash that included Raisi.
