US Congress Considers Sanctions Against ICC in Response to Netanyahu Arrest Warrant
The US Congress is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) if an arrest warrant is issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was stated in a statement released by House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Netanyahu had previously categorically rejected the decision of the ICC’s chief prosecutor, calling it a manifestation of "new anti-Semitism." The prosecutor is seeking an arrest warrant for the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense over alleged crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
