Slovak Prime Minister, Target of Recent Assassination Attempt, Has Regained Consciousness

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was the target of an assassination attempt a few days ago, has regained consciousness. However, his condition does not allow for a transfer from Banská Bystrica to a hospital in Bratislava in the coming days. This was reported by Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Robert Kaliňák.

The Ministry of Health has also stated that Fico's condition has stabilized. Earlier, a 71-year-old suspect named Juraj Cintula, accused of the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister, appeared in court and stated that he does not regret his actions. Cintula claimed that he did not intend to kill the Prime Minister, but only wanted to injure him.

The crime was driven by political motives, and the suspect faces a life sentence.
