Bagrad Archbishops Speaks on Potential Prime Minister Candidacy

After the change of power in Armenia, there is no official decision to nominate Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the 'Tavush for the Homeland' movement, for the position of Prime Minister. He made this statement after a meeting with political forces while responding to journalists' questions.

"There is no official decision regarding this. Representatives of the political forces present here have expressed their desire and consensus regarding this entire movement and idea, as well as a willingness to create a substantial cooperation space," noted the archbishop.

When asked when a specific decision regarding the prime ministerial candidate might be made, he emphasized that he first needs to discuss this matter with the Supreme Patriarch to understand whether this is indeed the right path to take or if an alternative route is preferable.

"I have neither the desire nor the inclination to advance my own candidacy. The people should nominate and confirm. The active members of our political field have shared their thoughts on this matter. Today, there are people sitting around the same table whom I don’t think would have greeted each other under different circumstances," said the archbishop.

Archbishop Bagrat also mentioned that he will meet with the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, next Sunday.
