Salome Zurabishvili Vetos Foreign Agents Law
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has vetoed the "Transparency of Foreign Influence" law, which was adopted by Parliament on May 14.
“Today, I vetoed a law that is, in its essence and spirit, a Russian law, and contradicts our Constitution and European standards,” she stated during a press conference on Saturday.
Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili told reporters that the law has no relation to Russian legislation and is aimed at obtaining information about the funds received by non-governmental organizations from abroad.
