Rocket Hits Tanker Near Yemeni Shores, Reports Say
A tanker sailing under the Panamanian flag has reportedly come under attack off the shores of Yemen, according to Western media outlets citing the British security services firm Ambrey. According to their information, a rocket struck the vessel. The incident occurred approximately 18.5 kilometers from the port of Mokha, located in southwestern Yemen.
Following the attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023, Houthi rebels, who currently control a significant portion of Yemen, including the capital Sana'a and certain areas near Saudi Arabia in the north and west, began launching missile and drone strikes on vessels in the Red Sea.
In response, the United States and the United Kingdom have been regularly targeting Houthi resources and facilities in Yemen. Earlier this week, the leader of the Houthi's Ansar Allah group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, announced that the rebels would attack any vessels belonging to companies heading to Israel, not only in the Red Sea but in all areas reachable by the group.
