VIDEO: Has the Question of the Prime Minister's Resignation Been Discussed in the Party? A Question to the MP of the Civil Contract
The Prime Minister of Armenia and the "Civil Contract" party are not planning to discuss the resignation of the head of government with anyone. This was stated by the Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Foreign Relations of the Armenian Parliament, MP of the ruling "Civil Contract" party, Sargis Khandanyan, during a conversation with reporters.
He explained that this issue cannot be a subject of discussion. The MP recalled that the citizens of Armenia formed the parliament through elections in 2021, which appointed a government led by the Prime Minister.
The MP expressed conviction that the power in Armenia can only change through a democratic, legitimate process—via elections, which, according to him, will take place in 2026. He assured that both the ruling party and its parliamentary group are open. “Recently there has been a party meeting, which demonstrates that the Prime Minister’s interaction with the political team is active. What is there to be concerned about? For the last 3-4 years, against the backdrop of the warm spring, the opposition has been trying to generate various processes within the country with the same individuals and different leaders, which have not been successful,” added the MP.
According to him, the reason is that these processes lack political content, and no alternatives are being offered to the citizens. “Meanwhile, the ruling force presents the processes in a very clear and transparent manner, especially when discussions relate to security and foreign policy issues. The authorities present the public with both difficulties and challenges as well as pathways to solutions. It seems that there is no alternative to this in the political arena,” concluded Sargis Khandanyan.
