Vahagn Khachatryan Faces Total Boycott in the U.S.

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the working visit of Armenian President Vahagn Khachatryan to the United States, funded by public resources, has been thwarted. He found himself in an embarrassing situation as the Armenian community in the U.S. has completely boycotted him and refused to participate in scheduled meetings with him.

Ambassador Lilith Makunts, who has failed to normalize relations with the community, could do nothing about it, effectively derailing the preparations for the visit. According to our sources, the situation was so shameful that negotiations started with the Armenian community from the U.S. State Department.

As a result, a meeting was managed between Khachatryan and Archbishop Hovnan Terteryan of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church, as well as Glendale's Armenian Mayor, Elena Asatryan. However, he could only meet with a small group of American Armenians who showed a relatively loyal attitude towards the authorities, and only at the hotel where he was staying. The boycott was so total that he wasn't even able to leave the hotel.

Photos published on the official website of the President of Armenia also confirm that meetings with representatives of the North American Armenian Evangelical Union, Bishop Mikael Muradyan of the Catholic Diocese, members of the Central Committee of the Dashnaktsutyun Party, and the secretary of the Ramgavar Liberal Party's Western America regional administration took place in the same location. The Armenian community in the U.S. has effectively rejected Prime Minister Pashinyan's president.
