Today is the Last Day: 'Hraparak'
According to the newspaper 'Hraparak', 'Today is the deadline for the delimitation of the Tavush border—May 15. According to the agreement, the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides must sign the delimitation and demarcation protocol by May 15.'
'In the initial phase of the delimitation process, the Parties have preliminarily agreed on certain sections of the border: directly between Baghanis (Armenia) and Baghanis Ayrum (Azerbaijan), Voskepat (Armenia) and Ashaghy Askipara (Azerbaijan), Kiran (Armenia) and Kheyrimlu (Azerbaijan), and Berkaberd (Armenia) and Kizil Hajili (Azerbaijan), complying with the legally established inter-republican border that existed at the time of the USSR's collapse.'
'It has been decided that the description of these border sections will be formed taking into account the clarification of coordinates obtained from geodetic measurements, which will be formalized in a corresponding Protocol-description that will be signed by May 15, 2024,' reads the statement from the delimitation commission.
The delimitation process in Tavush was frozen last week when it was decided to relocate the movement to Yerevan, but it has been resumed during these days. The authorities 'temporarily postponed' it, hoping to halt the movement. Only boundary pillars were installed in the lowland areas of Kiran, while Prime Minister Pashinyan had stated in a meeting with Kiran residents that the village would be divided, and the bridge would pass to the Azerbaijanis.
Kiran residents informed us that there are still 3 pillars left to install. Today it will become clear what decisions the authorities have made: whether they will sign the protocol without dividing the village or install the pillars through the village starting from the bridge, thereby splitting the village.'
