Slovak Prime Minister's Surgery Successful, Health Situation Stable

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, has undergone successful surgery following an assassination attempt, reported the TA3 television channel.

According to a statement, "Fico has been successfully operated on and is in stable condition and communicating."

Earlier, it was reported that Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot multiple times in the town of Handlová after a government meeting. He was injured and taken to the hospital. His condition was assessed as serious.

The assailant has been apprehended.
