VIDEO: Police Brutally Beat Georgian Opposition Figure Davit Katsarava in Tbilisi
Police have arrested Davit Katsarava, the leader of Georgia's "Anti-Occupation Movement," during a protest in central Tbilisi and subjected him to brutal beatings, reported SOVA, noting that a photo of the beaten man has circulated online.
Katsarava was taken to Ingorokva Clinic in Tbilisi. The activist's wife, Sofya Khachapuridze, has only stated that her husband called to inform her that he had been beaten.
It is reported that Davit Katsarava was arrested not far from the building of the Georgian Parliament, in front of the First Gymnasium, during a demonstration organized against the "Foreign Agents Law." Footage from the rally shows the activist, who was standing a considerable distance from the law enforcement and merely chanting slogans, did not violate any laws. At one point, special forces ran towards him and pulled him out of the police cordon.
