It's Time to Sign Agreements Reached with Azerbaijan: Pashinyan
Now is the time to include the agreements reached with Azerbaijan in the peace treaty and sign it. This was announced by Prime Minister Pashinyan during his speech at the "Copenhagen Democracy Summit" while participating in a discussion titled "From the Frontline: Armenia’s Defence of Democracy." He emphasized that despite all challenges, Armenia believes that true and aspiring democracy is accompanied by lasting and stable peace.
"My government has taken its share of responsibility for this. Recently, we reached an agreement with Azerbaijan to begin the delimitation of our interstate borders based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. This means that during the delimitation process, we should simply reproduce the administrative borders between Soviet Armenia and Soviet Azerbaijan, which, according to the Alma-Ata Declaration, become state borders." The start of the delimitation process is the implementation of the agreements reached during the quadrilateral meeting on October 6, 2022, between French President Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Charles Michel, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and myself. This took place in Prague," Pashinyan noted.
In addressing the Armenian "Peace Crossroads" initiative, Pashinyan specifically mentioned: "Another key point for our regional stability is the 'Peace Crossroads' project initiated by my government. This project envisions that Armenia and Azerbaijan restore and open transport and other communications under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries through which they pass, following the principles of equality and reciprocity." He reported that these elements of the concept were agreed upon during his meeting with the President of Azerbaijan on July 15, 2023, which was facilitated by European Council President Charles Michel and reflected in the public statement made by President Michel following the meeting.
"We are ready to move forward in implementing the agreements reached. I want to emphasize that democracy is a strategy for Armenia. We believe in democracy, we live in democracy," Pashinyan concluded.
