Edita

The National Security Service received operational information regarding gunfire on May 9 on Getapnya Street in the city of Ashtarak. Subsequent measures were conducted in collaboration with the Ashtarak police department and regional officials of Aragatsotn.

Acting on the operational information, law enforcement determined that at approximately 8:30 PM on May 9, a 50-year-old resident of Ashtarak intentionally fired two shots at the windows of a parked “VAZ-2107” and a “Mercedes” vehicle on Getapnya Street, then fled the scene.

As a result of further operational and investigative measures, as well as explanatory work, the 50-year-old man presented himself at the Ashtarak police department on May 10 at 9 PM. He confessed to shooting at the vehicles owned by a 57-year-old man and his 24-year-old son. Preliminary information suggests that a dispute had occurred between the son of the 50-year-old man and a 24-year-old individual prior to the incident.

The man reported that he had found the firearm in the gorge of Ashtarak. The 50-year-old resident has been referred to the Aragatsotn regional investigative department for further processing. Thanks to the explanatory work of the criminal investigators of the Ashtarak police department, on May 11, the man presented the hunting double-barreled shotgun used in the crime.

An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances.
