Citizen Locks Down Street Alone with Chain Wrapped Around His Hand
A member of the "Movement for the Sovereignty of Armenia" and a supporter of the "Tavush for the Homeland" movement, Ishkhan Gevorgyan, chained himself to block a section of the road from Kasyan Street heading towards Kyivyan. He wrapped chains around his hands and displayed a map showing areas in the Tavush region that would be given to the adversary as a result of border demarcation, with the words "I will not be reconciled" written on it.
Shortly after the protest action began, police officers cut the chain, removed it from Ishkhan Gevorgyan's arms, and detained him. According to Gevorgyan, he took this step due to the disrespect shown towards the mother of a fallen soldier, Mrs. Gohar.
"The mother of the soldier has been insulted by the authorities. Let the police know that they can also hurt their own mothers. Everyone should be aware that it is not acceptable to insult the mother of a soldier. Let Mrs. Gohar know that she has many sons, and I am one of them," Gevorgyan explained his actions to passersby.
It should be noted that since this morning, following the call of the Bishop of the Tavush Diocese, Bagrat Sargsyan, streets in Yerevan are being blocked. Specifically, Abovyan, Teryan, and Vardanants streets have been shut down. The special forces began forcibly detaining citizens participating in the act of disobedience on Abovyan and Teryan streets, tackling one citizen to the ground before several took him away and placed him in a police vehicle. The Bishop had called for a total strike and work stoppages starting from 8 AM to paralyze the entire city and various regions of Armenia, expressing disagreement with deceit and evil at a rally held the day before.
