Alexey Overchuk Retains Position in Russian Government

The members of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots have supported Alexey Overchuk as a candidate for the Deputy Head of the Government of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma.

It is noted that the meeting with the candidate lasted for more than two hours. Leonid Slutsky, the Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, highlighted that Overchuk is engaged in several important issues, including Eurasian integration and the promotion of the Russian language abroad. He coordinates the most significant developments related to Eurasian integration, particularly the potential membership block for new countries in the EAEU in the Eurasian region.

“New schools are being opened in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and many other countries in the post-Soviet space, and Russian teachers are being retrained,” Slutsky added.

Overchuk is also a co-chairman of the trilateral working group on the unblocking of communications in the South Caucasus region. The other co-chairs are Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
