Photographs: Aurora Captured in Russia
During the night of May 11 to 12, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Vikulovsky District of Tyumen Region captured the Aurora, reports the district administration's Telegram channel.
"Once again, the sky over the Vikulovsky District was colored with the hues of the northern lights. Our monitoring staff from the Ministry of Emergency Situations noticed a riot of colors above their heads," the message stated.
The Vikulovsky District is experiencing the largest flooding on the Ishim River, with water gradually receding. However, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations continue to monitor the state of the dams and earthen mounds that protect settlements from flooding, surrounding them throughout the night.
According to social media posts, the phenomenon was also observed by residents of Tobolsk and other areas of Tyumen Region during the night of May 10 to 11. Earlier, Sergey Bogachov, head of the Solar Astrophysics Laboratory at the Russian Academy of Sciences, informed RIA Novosti that the magnetic storm, which had slightly weakened on Saturday, has returned to maximum levels, and even more powerful Auroras are expected to be visible from Russian territory.
