What Happened in Etchmiadzin Before the Prime Minister's Visit
The police detained potential participants of a protest in Etchmiadzin early in the morning in order to prevent disruption during Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to a school, reports YerevanToday.
It should be noted that he is scheduled to visit the number 7 secondary school, and a protest action had been announced in advance.
The leader of the council faction of the "Etchmiadzin Alliance" also issued a statement, indicating that members of the "Etchmiadzin Alliance" would gather in the yard of the number 7 secondary school on May 11 at 8:30 AM to "invite" Nikol Pashinyan for coffee.
Additionally, the day before, Bishop Bagrat of the Tavush Diocese announced that peaceful actions would take place today in 10 locations across Armenia, including Yerevan and the provinces. There is no rally scheduled for today; it will occur on Sunday at 6:30 PM.
Earlier that day, citizens, led by Bishop Bagrat, began a march from Republic Square toward various universities. Groups of students from different universities joined Bishop Bagrat along the way, with the march passing by Yerevan State University, the Polytechnic University, Brusov State University, the Agrarian University, and the Conservatory. Notably, Bishop Bagrat briefly entered the Conservatory to deliver his message before exiting.
