Dutch Representative Removed from Eurovision Hours Before Final

The Dutch representative has been removed from the Eurovision competition just hours before the final. This was reported by the official website of the contest.

“Dutch representative Joost Klein will not participate in this year's Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Swedish police are investigating a complaint from a female member of the production team following an incident that occurred after his performance during the semifinals on Thursday evening. Although the legal process is proceeding according to its course, it would not be appropriate for him to continue in the competition,” the statement reads.

“We want to clarify that, contrary to some media and social media speculations, this incident did not involve any other performer or member of a delegation. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behavior at our event and are committed to ensuring a safe and secure working environment for all personnel involved in the contest. Given these circumstances, Joost Klein's behavior towards a team member is considered a violation of the competition's rules.”

The Grand Final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will now take place with 25 songs,” the message added.

On May 10, it became known that Joost Klein had been removed from the jury show for Eurovision, where professionals assess the artists, due to some incident. It was reported that he had entered into a conflict with either a photographer or a producer.

At the same time, the Dutch Broadcasting Corporation (NOS) reported that on May 10, a complaint was filed by one of the female television employees, claiming that Klein had threatened her. No details have been provided about the specific threats.

After questioning the singer and the presenter, the case has been handed over to the prosecutor. The legal proceedings may take several weeks. The EBU has also not disclosed details about the complaint, but Klein's behavior has been described as inappropriate.
