VIDEO: Why Be at Republic Square? A Question for Bishop Bagrat

Julya

We come to get an answer, and that's it, said Bishop Bagrat, the head of the Tavush Diocese, in a conversation with reporters when asked why he was at Republic Square. “All other things are meaningless, they are a shame and a disgrace. If your country is in a catastrophic situation, your people are humiliated, degraded, emerging from everywhere, especially from the enemy side, they dictate to you, what is left for us to do? To say, 'your sword and our rope?' We call for peace, we are ready to forgive, we aspire for peace, with a vision of victory...” said the Bishop.

Regarding the statements made by law enforcement agencies warning participants of the movement to refrain from clashes, the Bishop said, “Use a mirror when leaving home and when returning. If any clashes, provocations, or incidents occur, the responsibility is theirs and they are to blame. Law enforcement agencies, you will maintain the law, you will not use any violence, you will not engage in any illegal actions against your own people. Any illegal order will be intolerable. I will be the first to stand in that line. I specifically address Vahe Ghazaryan. Vahe Ghazaryan, we have dined together, shared bread, I know you well, you know me too. If any illegal orders or provocations occur, you will be the first responsible person and your immediate supervisor.”
