VIDEO: 'I've met Robert Kocharian once in my life,' says the Bishop

The public demanded the resignation themselves; I simply articulated and voiced the sentiments of the public.

This was stated by Bishop Bagrat during a conversation with journalists in Republic Square, addressing accusations that the public was misled and brought to the square to articulate political demands.

'The sequence of our actions was not what it became; it happened simply due to the people's insistence. We had planned to discuss the process of stopping those actions. I had a book in hand, right? That's what I announced, I had set a meeting, and then I saw what would happen. You all saw the sentiments of the people; I could not say anything else; I merely articulated the request that had accumulated here,' he said.

Bishop Bagrat also addressed rumors that he met with the second president yesterday, commenting on the similarities of their foot bandages and that of Nikol Pashinyan. He stated that they were forced by their movement's PR team to publish those photos.

'I have met the second president of the Republic only once in my life, back in 2001 for merely five minutes. If I meet anyone, I have nothing to hide. Yesterday, I went to have my foot bandaged, and they say I went to meet Robert Kocharian. They are liars. The issue of Kocharian's nomination was not discussed,' emphasized Bishop Bagrat.

'It was spread that I had gone to meet with the second president Robert Kocharian, so they decided to showcase what happened and where I went; otherwise, there was no need to talk about it. The difference between my bandage and his is that the situation has been the same for seven days, and I have not even spoken of this; I will ask the guys to show old pictures as well, but I did not showcase that; they forced me to do it. The deceit of these people is in their ideology, in their way of life, in their behavior, and their thought process, and that is why we have found ourselves in this situation. They are lying with every step, even about the police, claiming they brought shields and set up people, saying here are barbarians gathered, and they are interfering with these guys as well,' he said.
