Russian Border Guards to Remain at Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Iranian Borders: Peskov
During a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, an agreement was reached regarding the withdrawal of Russian military personnel and border guards from several regions of Armenia. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.
“At the request of the Armenian side, Russian border guards will remain at the Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Iranian borders,” said Peskov.
It is worth noting that earlier, Hayk Konjoryan, the head of the Civil Contract faction in the Armenian National Assembly, wrote on his Facebook page: “According to the reached agreement, during and after the 44-day war, Russian border guards and military points located in Tavush, Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Ararat regions will cease their deployment and withdraw from those points. The decision to halt the activities of Russian border guards at Zvartnots Airport has also been confirmed at the highest level.”
