How Many World War II Veterans Are There in Armenia?
In the Republic of Armenia, there are 44 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and the social protection of all is carried out in accordance with the law and other legal acts. Arthur Kesoyan, the Deputy Head of the Equal Opportunities Enforcement Division of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, stated this in an interview with Armenpress, presenting the social benefits for Great Patriotic War veterans.
“Currently, we are operating under the law on veterans of the Great Patriotic War, which defines veterans as citizens of the Republic of Armenia and residents permanently living in Armenia who participated in the Great Patriotic War, as well as those who were part of the Leningrad blockade and former underage prisoners of fascist concentration camps,” he elaborated.
The social protection of veterans is ensured by the law and other legal acts. He informed that veterans have the right to receive free medical assistance and healthcare under state orders, as well as privileged conditions for obtaining health resort treatment vouchers in accordance with the law for military personnel.
Monthly financial assistance is provided to veterans for the use of electricity and transport, and for disabled veterans, this assistance also extends to covering the costs of gas, water supply, drainage, and heating, as determined by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
“Disabled veterans also have the right to pay for housing, trash collection, telephone, and radio services with a 50% discount, as well as to receive free prosthetics and rehabilitation aids according to the procedures established by the Government of the Republic of Armenia,” he said.
Kesoyan emphasized that veterans receive a monthly honorarium of 100,000 drams as established by the Government of the Republic of Armenia. This honorarium is not subject to taxation and is not counted when determining the level of social need of veterans or their families.
The costs associated with the implementation of the benefits specified by the article are financed from the state budget of the Republic of Armenia as well as from other resources not prohibited by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. For more details, visit the original source.
