Young Man Stabs Classmate and Steals Gold Bracelet

The investigative department of the Lori regional investigative office of the RA Investigative Committee is conducting investigative and procedural actions in the framework of a criminal case to clarify all the circumstances regarding the stabbing of a 17-year-old minor resident of one of the settlements in the Lori region and the theft of his gold bracelet. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

On May 3, 2024, a resident of Lernahovit community of Lori Province reported that her son had been stabbed at around 9:00 PM on May 2, providing details about the person suspected of committing the crime.

A criminal case was initiated regarding the incident, and as a result of the investigative actions and operational measures conducted, it was revealed that on May 2, 2024, at around 9:00 PM, a local 18-year-old resident suddenly attacked his 17-year-old classmate with a folding knife, stabbing him in the right side of the stomach and causing bodily harm. He then forced the victim to lie on his back and demanded the gold bracelet he was wearing, subsequently removing and stealing it after the victim attempted to resist.

As a result of investigative and operational measures conducted within the framework of the criminal case, the 18-year-old was apprehended and presented to the prosecuting authority before being arrested. During the preliminary investigation, an examination of the crime scene was conducted, forensic examinations were appointed, and several individuals were questioned. The 18-year-old confessed to the act and, during the corresponding investigative action, retrieved and presented the stolen gold bracelet from under stones in the yard of one of the houses in Lernahovit.

The young man has been charged under Article 252, Part 2, Clause 5 of the RA Criminal Code (robbery committed with the use of a weapon or a method adapted for causing bodily harm). A petition has been submitted to the court for the selection of imprisonment as a precautionary measure, which has been granted. To clarify circumstances significant to the case, operational investigative measures have been tasked to the investigative body. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
