UK Home Office Announces Expulsion of Russian Military Attaché
The United Kingdom has decided to expel a Russian military attaché. This was announced on May 8 by James Cleverly, the head of the Kingdom's Home Office.
"We are expelling the Russian military attaché, who is a covert military intelligence officer," Cleverly said in parliament, as quoted by Reuters.
The minister added that this action follows Russia's activities that harm the Kingdom and Europe.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the UK's decision, stating to RIA Novosti that Russia will respond appropriately to the expulsion of the military attaché.
Previously, on May 6, the British Ambassador to Russia, Nigel Kay, was summoned by the Russian Foreign Ministry. The ministry reported that Kay was warned about potential retaliatory strikes on the Kingdom's equipment and military facilities, which could be expected if Ukraine launches attacks on Russian territory using British weapons.
