The Authorities Are Afraid of This Movement: Archbishop Mikayel Sarbazian
The delimitation and demarcation cannot be a means of blackmail; it cannot be carried out through the threat of war. This was stated by the leader of the Shirak Diocese, Archbishop Mikayel Sarbazian, during a conversation with journalists.
Sarbazian noted that they are not against the delimitation in principle, but it cannot be conducted through the threat of war. “In general, there should not be delimitation followed by a peace agreement; rather, delimitation should begin after the peace agreement is signed. No civilized country can define borders based on threats as it pleases. Delimitation cannot happen under the threat of war or blackmail. This is such a logical thing, but the country's leader does not understand this, or he has placed himself in a known animal’s position,” he remarked.
In response to a reminder that he supported the popular movement in 2018, Archbishop Mikayel Sarbazian said, “Yes, like all people, I made a mistake too. I realized my mistake two days later. By April 25, I already understood my mistake. I regret that mistake.”
“The authorities are afraid of this movement, not knowing any other hero, giving the same name to the same hero. I have always expressed political opinions during all administrations. Not engaging in political life relates to a lack of desire to be involved in state governance. We do not have such a desire or ambition. Indifference is a deadly sin; we cannot be indifferent to the processes happening in Armenia that threaten our statehood and security,” emphasized Archbishop Mikayel Sarbazian.
It is noteworthy that in Gyumri, under the blessing of His Grace Archbishop Mikayel Sarbazian, a car rally towards Abovyan was launched. The participants of the rally will join the march towards Yerevan led by Bishop Bagrat.
