Archbishop Arshak Khachaturyan Summoned by National Security Service: Will Respond if Necessary
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has summoned Archbishop Arshak Khachaturyan, the head of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Sources from Sputnik Armenia have confirmed this information. Earlier, 168.am reported that the authorities had begun to pursue participants and supporters of the movement led by Bishop Bagrat.
It has been noted that Archbishop Arshak Khachaturyan was invited to the National Security Service. "The reason for the government's pursuit is Archbishop Arshak Khachaturyan's activism, his critical speeches with firm positions, interviews, and in particular his speech during the torch-lit procession at Tsitsernakaberd dedicated to the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 23," the media reported.
A correspondent from Sputnik Armenia attempted to verify the information with the press service of the Mother See. "If necessary, Archbishop Arshak will respond," they replied to the media.
