Presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran to Meet by the Araks River
It is expected that in the coming days, the presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan will inaugurate a dam on the Araks River. This was reported by the Mehr news agency, citing the head of the Water Regional Company of Iran's South Azerbaijan province, Yousef Ghafarzadeh.
According to Ghafarzadeh, the joint project of Iran and Azerbaijan, the construction of the Maiden Tower dam, is completed. The opening will take place in the coming days with the participation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
This project, which is located 196 kilometers downstream from the Araz River, includes the construction of the Khudaferin reservoir with a capacity of 1.6 billion cubic meters. The project has been fully developed and implemented by Iranian engineers.
