Maradona's Golden Ball Put Up for Auction
The Golden Ball awarded to Argentine striker Diego Maradona at the 1986 World Cup has been put up for auction, reports the press service of the Aguttes auction house. Argentina's national team won the championship title in that tournament, and Maradona was recognized as the best player, receiving the Golden Ball.
The auction will take place on June 6 in Paris. In 2022, a ball that ended up in the English national team’s goal after Maradona’s play was sold at auction for 2 million pounds sterling during the quarter-finals of the 1986 World Cup. In the same year, a shirt worn by Maradona in the match against England was sold for 9 million pounds sterling.
Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60.
