Video: Archbishop Bagrat and Garnik Danielyan Again Denied Entry to Kiran

Mariam Z.

The police once again denied entry to Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the head of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, along with MP Garnik Danielyan from the Armenia parliamentary faction and political scientist Suren Petrosyan into Kiran.

“We want, we can go through other ways, but we will not be going to our villages by hidden paths,” said the archbishop.

He was negotiating with the police to allow them brief access to the village to greet the residents, assess the situation, and say goodbye before leaving, but the police did not grant permission.

He addressed the residents of Kiran, urging them to remain strong.

Suren Petrosyan stated that Kiran is currently under what he described as a “classical blockade” by the police.

“When people talk about war, they imagine military operations. These are just one component of war, and certainly not the most terrible and fatal one. The most terrible and fatal thing is to deprive people of their dignity, land, identity, and history, which is being done from within our own,” said Petrosyan.

According to him, this is what is currently happening. He emphasized that there is no delimitation or demarcation; what is occurring in Tavush is a unilateral surrender.
