Teacher Accused of Violence Against Students Fired – Haik Kostanyan

A teacher at one of Yerevan's primary schools under the jurisdiction of the city hall has been reported for psychological and physical abuse against elementary school students. This information was shared by Haik Kostanyan, the press secretary of the Yerevan mayor, on his Facebook page.

“Based on evident facts, the mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has communicated complete information regarding the incident to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, to consider the necessity of initiating legal proceedings against the mentioned teacher. The Yerevan municipality will remain diligent in protecting the rights of students in educational and cultural institutions under its jurisdiction, as well as the rights of educators, and will implement proper oversight in this regard,” stated the city hall spokesman.

He also added that the mentioned teacher has been dismissed from their position.
