In the Past, Many of You Were Nothing, and Today You Have Destroyed Everything. Ohanyan to the Ruling Party
Changes are a necessity, especially on the political platform, and they serve as a foundation for development, but only when the old values are preserved. This was stated today by Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the Armenia parliamentary group.
"It is a fact, and no one can deny that during this government's tenure, all previous values, primarily the integrated system of Armenia-Artsakh and all other values, have been violated, while the shortcomings have doubled. The country has been dragged into war, and the chain of failures continues even today. This serves as the basis for us, as the opposition, to criticize you, while you criticize the past. In the past, some of you were among the bearers of those values, and many of you were nothing, and today you have destroyed everything," he said.
The remarks of Ohanyan did not sit well with the ruling party representatives, who began to react from their seats, but the session's presiding officer Ruben Rubinyan called for silence. Ohanyan added that he did not wish to respond to those outbursts, but noted that he understands that there are individuals who wish to demonstrate that they have male values through various street expressions and behaviors, which is unacceptable. He remarked that the poses some display on the podium evoke smiles from them and reflect a somewhat clownish perspective.
"We speak of peace, everyone aspires to peace; these should not just be words, but should occur within a framework of dignified peace. We must immediately initiate a breakthrough in the delimitation and demarcation process or halt, slow down, and carry out real delimitation and demarcation instead of unilateral concessions. We must present to the international community and Azerbaijan that delimitation and demarcation must be carried out according to appropriate principles and sequences; the result cannot be a source of further destabilization and tension. The partial implementation of this leads to unilateral concessions and violations of the rights of the border populations, which we are witnessing today, and the dangers of this will be evident in the future," he stressed.
