VIDEO: How the Police Dispersed Student Protest in Paris
In Paris, the police dispersed a student protest near the Sorbonne University in support of Palestine, reports a correspondent from RIA Novosti. Today, around noon, several dozen students organized a protest in the vicinity of the prestigious university. They shouted ‘Long Live Palestine’ and spread a huge Palestinian flag across the street. ‘Children of Gaza and Palestine, this is who we are killing,’ the protesters chanted.
Later, anti-fascist slogans also echoed among the crowd. The students then staged a sit-in in front of the educational institution’s entrance. They covered the walls of the historic building in the Latin Quarter, located along the banks of the Seine, with paper Palestinian flags. Several tents were pitched in the inner courtyard. The police were on standby to suppress the demonstrations.
After some time, law enforcement instructed the students to conclude their action. The protesters began to pack up their tents without clashes with the police. However, some refused to leave. One of the organizers of the action reported on the social media platform X that police started to roughly drag away those who did not clean up the tents. Last week, the police also dispersed an unauthorized peaceful demonstration by students in Paris in support of the Palestinian people. The students chanted slogans condemning the policies of Paris regarding the armed conflict between Israel and Palestine.
