Clashes Erupt Between Protesters and Police Near Georgian Parliament

In Tbilisi, clashes have erupted between protesters opposing the 'foreign agents' law and police near the Georgian Parliament building, reports Грузия Online.

Protesters attempted to ascend a platform prepared for the ruling party's rally on Monday. The stage is being guarded by police.

As a result, a small confrontation occurred with the police. Protesters managed to seize a portion of the barrier installed in front of the building.

The majority of rally participants are now gathered in front of the parliament. Several hundred police officers are maintaining order. They are primarily stationed along the barricades set up for the upcoming rally organized by the 'Georgian Dream'.

Police are not allowing protesters to approach the stage. Special forces are also on duty in the area.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has published a statement on its website, urging people not to exceed the limits of the freedom of assembly permitted by law and not to dismantle the stage set up in front of the parliament. 'Any violation of the law will be immediately prevented by the police,' the statement reads.
