The Guarantee That Azerbaijan Will Not Raise New Unilateral Demands Is the Legitimacy of Our Positions - Pashinyan
The guarantee that Azerbaijan will not raise new unilateral demands is the legitimacy of our positions. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with Public Television on May 1, responding to concerns about whether Armenia would make concessions regarding the 'Zangezur Corridor' and the return of Azerbaijanis under further pressure.
“Do you understand? This is a very significant circumstance. The legitimacy of our positions is already based on the agreements we have reached because our positions are legitimate here. Our policy and strategy is to frame all our political actions, discourse, statements, and activities on the basis of our legitimate foundations and lines. This is a very important and essential circumstance,” Pashinyan emphasized.
“I have not had the opportunity to state this publicly, but we also need to know that among other things, the events of 2021 and 2022 have often been presented to the international community precisely in the context of four villages. That is, in some way there was an attempt, in some cases successful, to show that it was Armenia that was acting beyond its legitimate lines.
“Analyzing our strategy now, as well as the security and geopolitical situation, we have come to the conclusion that in a collapsing global security environment, what is the factor that must be relied upon to create a new security system. We have concluded that this factor is legitimacy,” Pashinyan declared.
