Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry Advises Citizens to Avoid Travel to Russia
Tajikistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised its citizens to temporarily refrain from traveling to Russia. On April 26, the ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Semyon Grigoryev to express concern over the mass rejections of entry for Tajik citizens into Russia.
This warning follows media reports indicating that hundreds of Tajik citizens have been stranded at the Sagarchin border checkpoint between Russia and Kazakhstan. Several individuals have sent audio and video messages to Asia-Plus, stating that they are being interrogated and their phones are being checked.
“About 1000 Tajiks are prohibited from entering Russia. We are stuck between Kazakhstan and Russia; other citizens are being allowed entry, but Tajiks are denied access,” said one of the individuals who sent the video.
