Zelensky Dismisses Commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces Support Units Less Than Two Months After Appointment

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Alexander Yakovets, the commander of the Armed Forces Support Units, less than two months after his appointment, according to data published on the presidential office's website.

The decree regarding his dismissal was made public on Friday and dated April 26. According to reports from open sources, the Armed Forces Support Units include electronic warfare forces, engineering troops, radiological, chemical, and biological defense forces, as well as geospatial, hydro-meteorological services, and canine units.

According to another decree, Yakovets has been appointed head of the State Special Transport Service. Zelensky previously removed the former head of the Armed Forces Support Units, Dmitry Gerega, in early March.

Brigadier General Alexander Yakovets had previously led the engineering troops within the Armed Forces Support Units command.
