This process started with lies, and it has reached here through lies: Bishop Bagrat
“We have been labeled in every possible way, but the people have filtered through all of that and understood what reality and truth are about. Now they are trying to present this struggle as serving the interests of other countries that seek to incite clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan through us. You are the ones provoking these clashes; you are the ones who brought war; you are the cause of the casualties. Finally, understand that you are in power. We cannot keep saying that you are in power when your nature, way of living, attitude, and awareness do not reflect that,” said the Bishop of Tavush, Bagrat, during an interview with NEWS.am on April 26 in Kiran.
“In this beautiful center of Tavush, gathered here at the peak of Kiran for our justice and truth in this grand struggle are respectable, wonderful people who have risen to oppose lies and deceit. Although this issue originated here or is directly related to this frontline region, the solutions lie throughout Armenia—particularly in Yerevan,” said Bishop Bagrat, expressing gratitude to those in various parts of Armenia who voiced their discontent.
“I am also aware that in some cases, there has been police intervention, the use of disproportionate and brutal force, some have been injured, and some arrested, but all of that does not matter. Our highest value, consciousness, and path of struggle is the affirmation of truth. This process started with lies and has reached here through lies. We will stop this process with truth; it cannot be otherwise. We do not have a homeland to hand over to anyone,” added the Bishop of Tavush.
Bishop Bagrat called on the people to continue expressing their dissent. He also urged the police not to escalate tensions, as the people do not intend to clash with them.
