Decision Made to Conduct Summer Draft; Dates Announced

The government made a decision during its meeting on April 25 to announce the summer draft for compulsory military service for 2024 and to carry out discharges.

The decision specifically states: “Announce the summer draft for compulsory military and alternative service for the ordinary personnel from April 29 to July 31, 2024, inclusive, for those who turn 18 or whose previous exemption from compulsory military service expires by June 30, 2024, inclusive.

Within the framework of the summer draft, individuals of the female gender who applied to join compulsory military service on a voluntary basis before March 1 and those of the male gender who expressed a desire to be drafted into compulsory military service will also be included.

Those who have served in compulsory military or alternative military service will be discharged by law within the stipulated time until July 31, 2024, inclusive.

Personnel who have completed alternative work service will also be released within the established timeframe.

It is noted that the draft will take place from June 24 to July 31, inclusive, and discharges will occur from June 13 to July 31, inclusive.
