There Is No Difference for Armenia at All: Tunyans on Gas Purchases from Azerbaijan

According to my information, there are no preliminary agreements, and no such discussions have taken place. However, if there is a country that sells gas and another that needs it, and if there are no obstacles for this, then everything is open for discussion. This was stated by the MP Baken Tunyans during a press briefing, responding to questions about the possibility of purchasing gas from Azerbaijan.

When asked why it is necessary to buy gas specifically from Azerbaijan and whether it could raise issues related to economic security, Tunyans replied, "For the Republic of Armenia, there is no difference where it buys its energy resources. It should buy them from wherever they are the cheapest and most advantageous. Risks associated with energy carriers arise when your energy security is at a low level and your source is a single one. The more you can diversify your supply sources, the higher you raise your level of energy security."

The MP noted that Armenia should diversify its possibilities as much as possible. He also mentioned that currently, Russian and Iranian gas fully meet the demands of Armenia.
