A Woman at a Rally in Central Yerevan Hits a Police Officer with a Fist, She is Arrested: Investigative Committee
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation in the third division of the Central and Norq-Mardakian administrative districts of Yerevan regarding an incident that occurred on April 24 during a gathering near Liberty Square involving interference with the duties of a police officer.
According to materials received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a rally organized by the 'ARF' political party took place in Liberty Square on April 24, 2024. During a subsequent march, supporters of the party illegally blocked a section of the roadway at the intersection of Tumanyan and Mashtots streets.
When police officers issued a legal demand to clear the road, a woman participating in the rally hit a police officer on the head with her fist while they were conducting an administrative arrest of those obstructing traffic. Following this report, a criminal case was initiated under Article 452, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
The aforementioned woman was arrested based on immediate suspicion of committing a crime. An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances, with recordings from online resources documenting the incident being examined and other necessary investigative actions being conducted.
