US Senate Approves Multi-Billion Dollar Aid Package for Ukraine and Israel

The US Senate has approved a $95 billion foreign aid package, following several months of delays, which is set to provide financial support to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and US partners in the Indo-Pacific region. A total of 79 Senate members voted in favor of the bill, while 18 opposed it. Thus, both houses of the American Congress have endorsed the legislation. It is now awaiting the signature of President Joe Biden.

It has been noted that Biden is expected to sign the bill on April 24, enabling Washington to resume arms supplies to Kyiv this week. This was stated in a White House announcement.

“I will sign this bill so that we can begin sending weapons and equipment to Ukraine this week,” said Biden.

The package, which was passed by the House of Representatives on April 20, includes $61 billion in aid for Ukraine, $26 billion in assistance for Israel, and $8 billion allocated for the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, the package includes measures to impose sanctions on Iranian and Russian officials and restrict Iranian oil exports.
